Beckham still pondering future

Updated December 05, 2011 17:27:20

Superstar David Beckham says he is no closer to deciding his football future as he prepares for what may be his last match as a Los Angeles Galaxy player against Melbourne Victory.

Beckham is about to come out of contract and the 36-year-old is believed to be weighing up a huge offer to play for French club Paris St Germain, or stay in the United States.

But the former England captain says he is unlikely to decide until early in the New Year.

After the Galaxy's win in the Major League Soccer championship he wants to take some time out to spend with his family before making a decision.

"I wanted to end this season with a championship and we did that, then I wanted some time on this tour to be able to celebrate it," Beckham said.

"I haven't actually started thinking about it yet. Once I get some down time, then I'll start thinking what's going to be best.

"I'm going to spend some time with the family, have a good Christmas."

Beckham and his Galaxy team-mates trained in Melbourne in front of 1,000 fans on Monday ahead of Tuesday night's clash with Victory at Docklands.

He will go head-to-head with Australia's version of football royalty - Harry Kewell.

Ex-English Premier League striker Robbie Keane also plays for the Galaxy and will line up against the Victory.
