Goalkeeper Eugene Galekovic has replaced Jon McKain as captain of last-placed Adelaide United.
New coach John Kosmina orchestrated the change, with McKain battling for form in his initial season as Reds skipper.
Galekovic has been appointed captain "effective immediately", Adelaide said in a statement on Wednesday.
"The move recognises both Galekovic's ability to perform under pressure and his presence within the playing group itself," the club statement said.
"At the same time the club respects and supports McKain as a player and person in accepting the decision in the best interests of the club."
