Melbourne Victory defender Rodrigo Vargas has been suspended for two A-League matches following a crude challenge against Gold Coast United on Sunday.
Vargas was given a direct red card for his 33rd-minute tackle on Golgol Mebrahtu in Melbourne's 3-2 win at AAMI Park, with the match review panel deeming the offence as "serious foul play" in imposing the sanction.
Vargas has until midday on Tuesday to either accept the punishment or refer the matter to a hearing by the FFA disciplinary committee.
In the round's only other incident to be analysed, Melbourne Heart's Wayne Srhoj has been asked to explain himself over a fifth-minute challenge involving Central Coast Mariners rival Rostyn Griffiths on Saturday.
The panel will consider any submissions lodged by Srhoj on Tuesday.
