Reds lose Socceroo Vidosic

Updated November 28, 2011 14:13:29

Adelaide United's testing season has worsened with Socceroo Dario Vidosic set to miss several weeks with a back injury.

United confirmed Vidosic has fractured two vertebrae, with scans on Monday revealing the injury.

But the club is still awaiting word as to how many matches he will miss.

Vidosic also confirmed his injury via Twitter, saying it happened a fortnight ago against Wellington Phoenix.

"When I landed on my back I fractured my L2 and L3. Not the best news but I'll work hard to be back ASAP," he said.

Despite the injury Vidosic played for the Reds last Friday night in the 0-0 draw with Newcastle but was substituted within an hour.

The injury could not come at a worse time for depleted Adelaide United, who have struggled this season.

Dutch winger Andy Slory retired amid controversy last week, while important defender Cassio is sidelined for at least two months with a serious foot injury.
