Heart lose Hamill to Seongnam

Updated July 16, 2012 11:44:47

Melbourne Heart have announced they have agreed to terms with South Korean side Seongnam Ilhwa for 19-year-old Olyroos defender Brendan Hamill.

An inaugural member of the Heart squad, Hamill made his debut aged just 17 after a successful stint at the Australian Institute of Sport.

The versatile defender played more than 30 games for the Heart and had reportedly turned down offers from English Premier League clubs for his services.

Seongnam recently saw its Australian captain Sasa Ognenovski depart for Qatari club Umm Salal, with Hammill widely seen as a like-for-like replacement.
