Thailand's representative to the international governing body for soccer, FIFA, has denied corruption allegations levelled against him by a British official and promised to file a complaint for defamation.
Last Tuesday, Lord David Triesman, the former chairman of England's 2018 World Cup bid, accused Worawi Makudi of demanding bribes to support England's bid.
He was one of four FIFA officials accused by Lord Triesman of "improper and unethical" behaviour ahead of December's vote in Zurich.
Triesman told a British parliamentary committee that Worawi had demanded to be awarded broadcasting rights of a possible friendly match between England and Thailand in Bangkok this year.
Mr Makudi said he had hired a lawyer and would fight to protect his name and reputation.
Mr Makudi's lawyer, Steven Burkill, said they had evidence that contradicts the accusations against his client.
"Scandalous accusations are easily made. Lord Triesman has not produced a shred of evidence to support his allegations," Mr Burkill said.
